Interactive – Palace Cinemas ticket kiosk

Task

During my time in the software team at Interactive, we worked with Palace Cinemas to design and develop a ticketing kiosk for their new concept cinema in Ultimo, Sydney. The kiosks went live in late 2017 and were very well received by Palace patrons. The kiosks will be installed at all Palace cinemas over the next 18 months.

My Role

I was the UX designer on the project in addition to project managing the initial scoping, discovery and research phases. The key stakeholders at Palace wanted to create a smooth ticket purchase and collection experience in keeping with their brand – the challenge was to deliver this experience while meeting the client’s functionality requirements. Clear communication, flow charts and low fidelity prototypes helped us communicate a user-centered process to the client so that they had confidence in the direction we took.

Once the UX design process was complete, I worked closely with UI designer Harry Kontos and the development team to deliver the finished software within the 2 month timeline.

I was responsible for:

  • Comparative/competitive research
  • Discovery workshop facilitation
  • Client communication
  • Sketching
  • Wireframes/Prototypes
  • User testing
